On Tuesday, Dec. 11th Cook County Higher Ed will offer a full day of training in the use of WordPress, a free software for creating and managing websites. If you have been considering building your own website that is easy to maintain and update, then this is the class for you.

Instructor: Don Bremer

The training will consist of two modules:

WordPress I from 9 a.m. to noon -  Create a professional looking website. Workshop includes getting a theme, adding pages, adding pictures, video, text.

WordPress II from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. -  Learn how to extend your website using plugins and widgets. Learn about widgets that help organize your work on the website and with other people. Widgets include: Notes, SEO plugins, content sliders, forums and others.

Attendance is limited to the first 15 people who sign up.

To attend, you must have a laptop you can bring to the training, or arrange to use a Higher Ed laptop for the day. We have a limited number available.

Higher Ed offers the training for the same cost and with the same instructor as it is offered in Duluth – on two separate days. By taking the Higher Ed training, you save a day and the time/expense of two round trips to Duluth.

Users of Adobe Contribute might wish to consider enrolling in the WordPress classes. Bremer says WordPress β€œis free and always will be,” is much easier to use and has many more bells and whistles than Contribute.
