Minnesota Ultra Highspeed Broadband TaskforceEnacted by the Minnesota State Legislation in 2008, the mission of the Minnesota Ultra High-Speed Broadband Task Force is to make recommendations to the governor and legislature regarding the creation of a statewide high-speed Internet access goal, and a plan for implementation by 2015.

County Board Approval ~ 2-24-09

  On February 24th, acting as fiscal agent for the Cook County Broadband Initiative, the Cook County Board signed a contract with CCG Consulting, LLC to complete a broadband feasibility study to provide ultra-broadband services to citizens, businesses and visitors to Cook County. The contract was funded by matching funds from the Blandin Foundation, Cook County, Arrowhead Electric and Boreal Access and local tourism organizations.

It is estimated that the contract will be completed in 3-4 months. Meetings have already begun with principal Doug Dawson of CCG to discuss the market survey which will mark the beginning of the analysis on the requirements and feasibility of a modern communications network project in Cook County.
